Truth is universal, powerful, and binding. I, from , recognize that the Earth is my larger home. It gives me the air I breathe, the water I drink, and the food I eat.

I also see that my home is in trouble. The air is polluted, rivers are dirty, temperatures are rising, and climate change is bringing more heatwaves, floods, and extreme events.

In modern life, everything I consume — food, clothes, electricity, fuel, and other products — is grown, mined, processed, packaged, transported, and sometimes recycled. At every step, something is taken from nature and some waste is returned to it.

I therefore understand that every act of consumption — using materials, electricity or fuel, buying something new, or throwing something away — pollutes air, water, and soil, creates waste, and adds to global warming, often for hundreds of years.

I accept that it is my responsibility to leave behind a clean, safe, and liveable planet for my children, for others, and for all life on Earth.

I recognize the truth that science, technology, and economies can grow, but the size of our planet Earth cannot. Its minerals cannot grow. Its soil cannot grow. I also understand that everything we use and consume is taken from the Earth.

I accept that on a finite Earth, with finite resources, my consumption must be finite. Just as fixed income demands limits on expenditure, a finite Earth demands limits on consumption. I may be able to earn more and buy more, but nature cannot supply more.

I understand that recognizing and accepting this truth of finiteness is the first and most essential step toward environmental restoration and climate correction.

Today, humanity consumes the resources of 1.8 Earths, while we have only one. I therefore pledge to reduce my consumption and live within 1 Earth.

From today, I pledge to be mindful of every use of material, every unit of energy, and every item I buy. I will take only what I truly need, repair and share what I can, and waste nothing.

With awareness, restraint, and respect, I join the Finite Earth Movement.

सत्य सार्वभौमिक, शक्तिशाली और बाध्यकारी होता है। मैं, निवासी , यह स्वीकार करता/करती हूँ कि पृथ्वी मेरा बड़ा घर है। वही मुझे साँस लेने के लिए हवा, पीने के लिए पानी और खाने के लिए भोजन देती है।

मैं यह भी देख रहा/रही हूँ कि मेरा यह घर संकट में है। हवा प्रदूषित है, नदियों का पानी गंदा है, तापमान बढ़ रहा है, और जलवायु परिवर्तन के कारण हीटवेव, बाढ़ और प्राकृतिक घटनाएँ बढ़ रही हैं।

आज के समय में मैं जो कुछ भी उपभोग करता/करती हूँ — भोजन, कपड़े, बिजली, ईंधन और अन्य वस्तुएँ — वे सभी उगाई जाती हैं या खनन की जाती हैं, प्रोसेस की जाती हैं, पैक की जाती हैं, ट्रांसपोर्ट की जाती और कभी-कभी रीसायकल भी होती हैं। हर चरण में प्रकृति से कुछ लिया जाता है और कुछ कचरा प्रकृति में छोड़ा जाता है।

इसलिए मैं यह समझता/समझती हूँ कि मेरे हर उपभोग से — चाहे वह किसी वस्तु का उपयोग हो, बिजली या ईंधन का इस्तेमाल हो, कोई नई चीज़ खरीदना हो या कुछ फेंकना हो — हवा, पानी और मिट्टी प्रदूषित होती है, कचरा बढ़ता है और सैकड़ों वर्षों तक रहने वाला ग्लोबल वार्मिंग का प्रभाव बढ़ता है।

मैं यह स्वीकार करता/करती हूँ कि अपने बच्चों, दूसरों और पृथ्वी पर मौजूद सभी जीवन के लिए एक स्वच्छ, सुरक्षित और रहने योग्य ग्रह छोड़ना मेरी जिम्मेदारी है।

मैं यह सत्य स्वीकार करता/करती हूँ कि विज्ञान, तकनीक और अर्थव्यवस्थाएँ बढ़ सकती हैं, लेकिन हमारी पृथ्वी का आकार नहीं बढ़ सकता। इसके खनिज नहीं बढ़ सकते। इसकी मिट्टी नहीं बढ़ सकती। मैं यह भी समझता/समझती हूँ कि हम जो कुछ भी उपयोग और उपभोग करते हैं, वह सब पृथ्वी से ही लिया जाता है।

मैं यह स्वीकार करता/करती हूँ कि सीमित पृथ्वी और सीमित संसाधनों पर मेरा उपभोग भी सीमित ही होना चाहिए। जैसे निश्चित आय में खर्च पर सीमा आवश्यक होती है, वैसे ही सीमित पृथ्वी पर उपभोग की भी सीमा आवश्यक है। मैं अधिक कमा सकता/सकती हूँ और अधिक खरीद सकता/सकती हूँ, लेकिन प्रकृति अधिक आपूर्ति नहीं कर सकती।

मैं यह समझता/समझती हूँ कि पृथ्वी की इस सीमित प्रकृति को पहचानना और स्वीकार करना ही पर्यावरण संरक्षण और जलवायु सुधार की पहली और सबसे आवश्यक सीढ़ी है।

आज मानवता 1.8 पृथ्वियों के संसाधनों का उपभोग कर रही है, जबकि हमारे पास केवल एक ही पृथ्वी है। इसलिए मैं यह प्रतिज्ञा करता/करती हूँ कि मैं अपने उपभोग को कम करूँगा/करूँगी और 1 पृथ्वी की सीमाओं में ही जिऊँगा/जिऊँगी।

आज से मैं यह संकल्प लेता/लेती हूँ कि मैं हर वस्तु के उपयोग, हर ऊर्जा इकाई और हर खरीद के प्रति सजग रहूँगा/रहूँगी। मैं केवल उतना ही लूँगा/लूँगी जितनी वास्तव में आवश्यकता हो, जितना संभव हो मरम्मत और साझा करूँगा/करूँगी, और कुछ भी व्यर्थ नहीं करूँगा/करूँगी।
